There is no better friend and a worst enemy of you than your own brain! A brain with consciousness is also referred to as Mind. Our mind is our friend when it is the source of Joy even in the external difficulties. Our mind may turn out to be our biggest enemy as it can keep us in the sad state even in the position of abundance.
Our brain has reached this state after going through million of years of evolution, this is here to evolve further as the years pass-by. As a human, to reach our full potential, it is imminent that we learn to make it our friend and to be able to drive it to our consciousness and not be driven by its own horses. This learning is a gradual process, it involves multidimensional and multifaceted disciplined, consistent efforts.
It has been observed that it may sometimes take a lifetime and yet many people never reach the state of tranquility where they can claim to think and live in a particular way.
You could be a billionaire with another set of billions in the pipeline, yet if you’re mind is not in your conscious control, it will all be a dud!
A mere change in perceptive for good or bad will always put you back in the joyous state or in a state of dismay and paralysis. Hence it is important to get your things in order and probably devise your own ritual to start training your mind!
A Bhagwata Gita Verse says it in its entierity when Arjuna speaks to Krishna in the Battle ground of Mahabarata “The mind is very restless, turbulent, strong and obstinate, O Krishna. It appears to me that it is more difficult to control than the wind.” (Ch6, verse 34).
The above verse is then answered by the lord as in Chapter6, verse 35 ” O mighty-armed son of Kunti, what you say is correct; the mind is indeed very difficult to restrain. But by practice and detachment, it can be controlled.“
